Dr John Keir

Head of Research & Development, Atlantis Resources Corporation

Dr. Keir completed his undergraduate mechanical engineering degree at James Cook University.
He received first class honors and was awarded the Mechanical Engineering Prize for highest weighted mark for engineering over the 4 years of study. He was then awarded an Australian industry based postgraduate award to further his studies and complete his PhD in active control of structural and acoustic fields within aircraft, submarine and machinery structures.

Extensive experimental, numerical and computational analyses were undertaken as part of the investigation. Various software packages and control systems were used to conduct this research. The project was completed in conjunction with ‘Defense Science and Technology Organization of Australia’ (DSTO) and NQEA Shipbuilders. Industrial experience was gained in world class laboratories using cutting edge technology and techniques.

Dr Keir’s work has also been presented at various leading international conferences and has been accepted for publication in world class journals. Through his PhD research, Dr Keir acquired outstanding experimental and programming experience through extensive use of control systems and structure simulations and modeling. Before joining Atlantis, Dr Keir had worked at several specialized engineering firms in the machinery and energy fields where valuable industry skills were acquired.
